Election Candidates
The candidates for the WRC 2019-2020 Elections are as follows.
President
Matthew LeGallais
Frustrated by not knowing if the elevators are working or not? Would you like to know when there’s free food on the porter desk when you’re hungry in your suite and have no snacks? Do you want a more exciting and engaging House Cup? Vote me, Matthew LeGallais, for Woodsworth College Residence President and I will work to bring these ideas and more into fruition within the building. I want to be your President because I know that I possess the qualities to fill it successfully: I am detail oriented, passionate, and hard-working. I have already been very involved within the Woodsworth community: this year alone I have been the Associate Director of Public Relations for WCSA, a member of The Howl Mag, and a Woodsworth Residence Council Representative. Given that I have lived in Woodsworth Residence for two years, and have been an active community member during this time, I have a strong vision for how life at Woodsworth can be more inclusive and accessible to all students, and overall be improved. If you vote for me, I promise to bring creativity and flair to the role of President in order to serve YOU!
Ava Truthwaite
Hello friends!
My name is Ava Truthwaite and I’m a second-year student majoring in Ethics, Society and Law and double minoring in Political Science and Philosophy. I’m a fan of dogs, eating Freshi during my shift at the front desk, and listening to true crime podcasts when I should be sleeping (or studying). I’m super hyped to announce that I’m running to be your WRC President for the 2019-2020 academic year!
This year, I’ve had the opportunity to represent the Floor 2 community as President, and I’d like to believe that I’ve done a pretty decent job at that (you’ll have to fact-check that with my friends on floor 2, though!). This opportunity has presented me with multiple leadership experiences that I have grown from in a multitude of ways. I strongly value authenticity, dedication, and looking at every experience as one to learn from. I believe that in taking on the role of WRC President, I would be able to further participate in fostering the diverse, equitable, and accessible community I’ve come to love so much over my past two years here.
Some of my goals as President would include: further developing house interconnectedness, and increasing resident input into the kinds of events you all want to have on your floors. Basically, I want to keep growing the good things and improve the other areas as much as possible!
Thank so much for taking the time to read this!
I hope you’ll consider tossing a vote my way.
Vice President
Angel Chang
Hi everyone!
My name is Angel Chang. I’m entering my third year at Rotman Commerce. Woodsworth residence has been my home for two years and I love how tight-knitted this community is. I’m running for VP because I want to give back to the community. I want to help keep the positives and improve the negatives by working closely with the Operations Committee. I’ve sharpened my communication and teamwork skills through my various involvements in and out of Woodsworth. I’m part of the Residence Floor Council for two years now and have served as the Logistic Chair at WCSA’s Professional Development Committee. Outside of Woodsworth, I helped with planning and executing events at UTSU, ASSU, and other clubs. I ask you to cast your vote for me. I genuinely enjoy contributing to the greater good and investing my time and efforts towards making things better. I look forward to devoting the same
level of contribution at WRC as your VP!
Christina Lui
Treasurer
Megan Lai
Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I’m a first-year student intending to major in either Philosophy, Psychology or Criminology. I am running to be your treasurer on Woodsworth Residence Council for the upcoming academic year of 2019-2020. An interesting fact that justifies why I am running for treasurer specifically is that, I like to jot down all my expenses (like every single detail aka bought a pencil from UofT bookstore 1.99 dollars) in an account book. I have been involved with the floor council for my floor and I really wanted to be more involved with the residence community on a larger scale. Please vote for me and I promise to create a fantastic time for you!
